Allow Erlang code to use sendfile() where available by wrapping it as
file:sendfile/4 and file:sendfile/2.
sendfile(2) - Linux man page:
"sendfile() copies data between one file descriptor and another.
Because this copying is done within the kernel, sendfile() is more
efficient than the combination of read(2) and write(2), which would
require transferring data to and from user space."

On e.g FreeBSD the functions sctp_bindx() and sctp_peeloff() do not require
any extra linkage library flags and there is no dynamic lib to load
for them; use configure to find them.

Requires own build of wxMac for wx to work:
$ arch_flags="-arch i386"
$ ./configure CFLAGS="$arch_flags" CXXFLAGS="$arch_flags" \
CPPFLAGS="$arch_flags" LDFLAGS="$arch_flags" OBJCFLAGS="$arch_flags" \
OBJCXXFLAGS="$arch_flags" --prefix=/usr/local \
--with-macosx-sdk=/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.6.sdk \
--with-macosx-version-min=10.6 --enable-unicode --with-opengl
$ make
$ sudo make install
- and we have macports gcc 4.5 in /opt/local/bin, so we configure
and build OTP like this for 32bit (which is required for wx):
$ cd $ERL_TOP
$ PATH=/usr/local/bin:$PATH CC=/opt/local/bin/gcc-mp-4.5 CXX=/opt/local/bin/g++-mp-4.5 ./configure --enable-m32-build
$ MAKEFLAGS="-j6" PATH=/usr/local/bin:$PATH make

The test is not needed, because no code tests whether SETVBUF_REVERSED
is defined.
Furthermore, AC_FUNC_SETVBUF_REVERSED is now documented like this:
Do nothing. Formerly, this macro checked whether setvbuf takes the
buffering type as its second argument and the buffer pointer as the
third, instead of the other way around, and defined
SETVBUF_REVERSED. However, the last systems to have the problem were
those based on SVR2, which became obsolete in 1987, and the macro is
no longer needed.
|
|
If we are compiling on System V, the symbols NO_WEAK_PRAGMA and
SOCKOPT_CONNECT_STAT are defined, but they are never used.
|
|
We no longer include mach-o/dyld.h (because we only support
MacOS X versions that have dlopen()).
|
|
./configure --disable-fixalloc does not do anytning any longer,
since there is no longer any "fix allocators" (in the original
sense).

To avoid issues with parallel make and to slightly speed up the
build process, avoid a recursive make by replacing pcre/Makefile.in
with pcre/pcre.mk and including it from the main emulator Makefile.

Giving the beam_makeops script access to the external word
size (=the size of instruction words) will allow it to pack
more operands into a word for the 64 bits emulator.

document it any longer. The AI_ADDRCONFIG flag have

The IP address(es) epmd binds to can now be specified by the user,
either via epmd's new "-address" option or (if that's not used) by
setting the environment variable ERL_EPMD_ADDRESS. Multiple addresses
may be specified using a comma-separated list. If the loopback address
is not in this list, it will be added implicitly, so that the daemon can
be queried by an interactive epmd process.

On systems supporting getaddrinfo(), support looking up the MAC
address from inet:ifget/2. The results have the same quirks as with
Linux: if the MAC address is longer than 6 bytes (e.g., fw0 under
Mac OS X), the address is truncated; if the interface does not have
a MAC address (e.g., lo0), an address consisting of 0's is returned.
