This function is no longer needed as maps:iterator has
now been implemented.
|
|
This iterator implementation fetches multiple elements to
iterate over in one call to erts_internal:maps_next instead
of one at a time. This means that the memory usage will go
up for the iterator as we are buffering elements, but the
usage is still bounded.
In this implementation the max memory usage is 1000 words.
Using this approach makes the iterator as fast as using
maps:to_list, so maps:iterator/2 has been removed.

1.2.11 started bailing when avail_out==0 regardless of whether
there's anything to flush or not, and there's no point in adapting
the old method since it was vulnerable to bugs in other zlib
versions which updated the deflate parameters even on failure.
The api_deflateParams test has been expanded accordingly, and two
white-box cases in zip_usage has been updated to make fewer
assumptions about the output; the validity of the compressed data
is what matters, not whether it's exactly the same as the test
vector.

Revert "Merge branch 'rickard/null-char-filenames/ERL-370/OTP-14543' into maint"
|
|
This reverts commit 0717a2194e863f3a78595184ccc5637697f03353, reversing
changes made to 71a40658a0cef8b3e25df3a8e48a72d0563a89bf.
|
|
Various places that now reject null chars inside strings
- Primitive file operations reject it in filenames.
- Primitive environment variable operations reject it in
names and values.
- os:cmd() reject it in its input.
Also '=' characters are rejected by primitive environment
variable operations in environment variable names.
Documentation has been updated to document null characters
in these types of data as invalid. Currently these operations
accept null chars at the end of strings, but that will change
in the future.

I accidentally merged a few fixes directly to maint-20 (and then to maint
and master), instead of merging to maint and master and waiting for a
patch to merge it into maint-20, leaving the related tickets dangling.
This commit does nothing beyond getting the tickets (and their release
notes) into the next patch.

Don't allow null in filenames

Quoting RFC 1952:
"A gzip file consists of a series of "members" (compressed data
sets). [...] The members simply appear one after another in the
file, with no additional information before, between, or after
them."
|
|
When presented with multiple valid but concatenated streams, the
old driver returned an empty result once the end of the first
stream was reached, and kept doing so even if fed new data. The
new driver/NIF returned a data_error instead.
zlib:inflateInit/3 has been added to control this behavior, but is
not yet ready for public use.

OTP-14527
|

All operations will now yield appropriately, allowing them to be used
freely in concurrent applications. This commit also deprecates the
functions listed below, although they won't raise deprecation
warnings until OTP 21:
zlib:adler32
zlib:crc32
zlib:inflateChunk
zlib:getBufSize
zlib:setBufSize
The behavior of throwing an error when a dictionary is required for
decompression has also been deprecated.

The new Dbgi chunk returns data in the following format:
{debug_info_v1, Backend, Data}
This allows compilers to store the debug info in different
formats. In order to retrieve a particular format, for
instance, Erlang Abstract Format, one may invoke:
Backend:debug_info(erlang_v1, Module, Data, Opts)
Besides introducing the chunk above, this commit also:
* Changes beam_lib:chunk(Beam, [:abstract_code]) to
read from the new Dbgi chunk while keeping backwards
compatibility with old .beams
* Adds the {debug_info, {Backend, Data}} option to
compile:file/2 and friends that are stored in the
Dbgi chunk. This allows the debug info encryption
mechanism to work across compilers
* Improves dialyzer to work directly on Core Erlang,
allowing languages that do not have the Erlang
Abstract Format to be dialyzer as long as they emit
the new chunk and their backend implementation is
available
Backwards compatibility is kept across the board except
for those calling beam_lib:chunk(Beam, ["Abst"]), as the
old chunk is no longer available. Note however the "Abst"
chunk has always been optional.
Future OTP versions may remove parsing the "Abst" chunk
altogether from beam_lib once Erlang 19 and earlier is no
longer supported.
The current Dialyzer implementation still supports earlier
.beam files and such may also be removed in future versions.
