2012-03-20Add documentation of regular expressions for version numbers in appupSiri Hansen
2012-03-19[sasl] Doc that included applications in .rel defaults to same as in .appSiri Hansen
OTP-9980 Sasl documentation earlier said that the InclApps parameters in a .rel file defaults to the empty list. This is not correct. It defaults to the same value as specified in the .app file.

2011-12-20Reject systools:make_script if kernel and stdlib are not permanent in .relSiri Hansen
It should not be possible to create a .boot file unless kernel and stdlib are stated as permanent applications in the .rel file. Note that 'permanent' is the default start type, so not specifying a start type for kernel and stdlib is, as always, ok.

2011-11-23Add option no_warn_sasl to systools:make_scriptSiri Hansen
This option will suppress the 'missing-sasl' warning which otherwise is issued when compiling a .rel file which does not include the sasl application.
2011-11-23Fix release_handler:upgrade_app and downgrade_app when upgrading emulatorSiri Hansen
Changes to the mechanism for upgrading the emulator in OTP R15 was erronously not handled in release_handler:upgrade_app, downgrade_app, upgrade_script and downgrade_script. This has been corrected, including test and documentation.

2011-11-17Add documentation for upgrade from pre R15 to post R15 saslSiri Hansen
2011-11-17Handle upgrade from pre R15 to post R15 saslSiri Hansen
New emulator upgrade mechanism introduced in R15 can only work if the sasl version to upgrade from is 2.2 or later. I.e. if we are already running at least R15. This commit adds backwards compatiblity for upgrades from earlier versions, meaning that the new code is loaded into the old emulator and code_change is executed - then after all application code is updated, the emulator is restarted with the new erts version. Note that this might cause problems if the new code is compiled with the new emulator and there have been updates to the beam format. If this happens, the workaround is to compile the new code with the old emulator.

2011-10-20Add release_handler:which_releases/1joewilliams
This is an extension to which_releases that allows a user to specify the status of the releases they wish to be returned. For instance it allows for quickly determining which release is 'permanent' without the need of parsing the entire release list.

2011-09-02Add option purge to release_handler:check_install_releaseSiri Hansen
Given this option, all modules that are to be purged by indicated upgrade, and that can be soft purged, will be purged when all other check of check_install_release have been successfully completed. I added a note under install_release in the reference manual about how to use check_install_release with this new option in order to speed up the execution of install_release. I also added three more test cases for this functionality.
2011-08-30Improve performance of upgrade when many processes have old codeSiri Hansen
This commit utilizes the new bif erlang:check_old_code/1 to check if a module has old code in the system or not before running erlang:check_process_code/2. This is to optimize release_handler:install_release (and release_handler:check_install_release). A new test is added which checks that after traversing all processes/modules once and purging all old code, the second run through this part of the code is "sufficiently" much faster. A note is also added in the reference manual for release_handler:install_release about how to go around the efficiency problem of this function.

2011-05-03Fail sasl startup if some, but not all, environment variables related to ↵Siri Hansen
log_mf_h are given The sasl application starts and adds log_mf_h handler if all three environment variables are given and valid. If any of the variables are invalid, sasl startup will crash. Earlier, if one or two of the variables were missing sasl would successfully start but silently skip adding log_mf_h. This commit changes this behaviour so that sasl startup will crash if some variables are given and some are not.

2011-03-30Change default behaviour to not check src code when creating releaseSiri Hansen

2011-02-25Honor start type in .rel files when building relup filesPaul Guyot
Previously, relup file always included an application:start(Application, permanent) apply instruction for every application that appear in the UpTo/DowFrom release file, whatever their start type in the release file. The new implementation fixes this bug by honoring the start type according to the rel(5) format. If the start type is none, no apply line is included in the relup. If the start type is load, the relup includes instruction to only load the application. Otherwise, the relup includes an instruction to start the application to the according type. The fix is implemented by adding a new parameter to the add_application high level appup instruction. This new parameter is documented in appup(5).

* va/rb-improvements: New rb:filter/2 to filter reports by date New rb:filter/1 function to ease report filtering Modify rb:grep/1 to grep reports using the re module Fix minor typo in read_report/1 OTP-8443 The re:grep/1 function now uses the 're' module instead of the deprecated 'regexp' module. There are new functions rb:filter/1 and rb:filter/2 for easier filtering of reports. (Thanks to Alvaro Videla.)
2010-02-14New rb:filter/2 to filter reports by dateAlvaro Videla
The function filter/2 expects a second parameter Dates that can be used to return reports that occurred between the provided dates. Usage: Dec22 = {{2009,12,22},{0,0,0}}. Dec24 = {{2009,12,24},{0,0,0}}. rb:filter(Filters, {Dec22, from}). %will return reports that occurred from Dec22. rb:filter(Filters, {Dec22, to}). %will return reports that occurred before Dec22. rb:filter(Filters, {Dec22, Dec24}). %will return reports that occurred between Dec22 % and Dec24
2010-02-14New rb:filter/1 function to ease report filteringAlvaro Videla
Currently in the rb module the only way to filter reports is by using the grep/1 or re/1 functions that use Regular Expressions. This new function allow us to specify detailed filters that will match against our reports. Since the reports are proplists the filters are tuples of the form {Key, Value}. If the report contains that tuple, it will be displayed. Usage: 1> rb:filter([{"foo", "bar"}, {"abc", "value"}]). 2> rb:filter([{"foo", "bar", no}]). % excludes reports containing {"foo", "bar"} 3> rb:filter([{"foo", RegExp, re}]). % the report must contain an element with Key = "foo" % and Value must match RegExp
