2013-01-25Extend char() to Unicode charactersHans Bolinder
The code related to the introduction of unicode_string() and unicode_char() has been removed. The types char() and string() have been extended to include Unicode characters. In fact char() was changed some time ago; this commit is about cleaning up the documentation and introduce better names for some functions.

2011-10-13Allow noncharacter code points in unicode encoding and decodingBjörn Gustavsson
The two noncharacter code points 16#FFFE and 16#FFFF were not allowed to be encoded or decoded using the unicode module or bit syntax. That causes an inconsistency, since the noncharacters 16#FDD0 to 16#FDEF could be encoded/decoded. There is two ways to fix that inconsistency. We have chosen to allow 16#FFFE and 16#FFFF to be encoded and decoded, because the noncharacters could be useful internally within an application and it will make encoding and decoding slightly faster. environment after a number of bugs are fixed and some features are added in the documentation build process. - The arity calculation is updated. - The module prefix used in the function names for bif's are removed in the generated links so the links will look like http://www.erlang.org/doc/man/erlang.html#append_element-2 instead of http://www.erlang.org/doc/man/erlang.html#erlang:append_element-2 - Enhanced the menu positioning in the html documentation when a new page is loaded. - A number of corrections in the generation of man pages (thanks to Sergei Golovan) - Moved some man pages to more apropriate sections, pages in section 4 moved to 5 and pages in 6 moved to 7. - The legal notice is taken from the xml book file so OTP's build process can be used for non OTP applications.
