2016-03-09Remove upgrade tests from stdlib_SUITESiri Hansen
The test cases minor_upgrade and major_upgrade used ct_release_test. The point of the tests in stdlib was mainly to test ct_release_test. ct_release_test produces a 'from-release' based on an old version of the application under test (in this case stdlib) and new versions of all other applications. But since it is not always a good idea to load an old version of stdlib into a new emulator (e.g. in the OTP-19.0 emulator), these tests are removed. Instead new tests are added for ct_release_test in common_test.

2015-06-03Break out assert macros from eunit to stdlib assert.hrlRichard Carlsson
Several people have requested that the assert macros in EUnit should be moved out to a separate header file. This patch puts them in stdlib/include/assert.hrl, which gets included by the eunit.hrl file. Thus, nothing changes for eunit users, but the asserts can now also be included separately.
2015-01-28[ct] Improve support for upgrade test of applicationSiri Hansen
Add functions: ct_release_test:get_app_vsns/2 ct_release_test:get_appup/2 This implies a change in callback functions for ct_release_test, which now all have two arguments - [CtData,State]. The new CtData is an opaque data structure which must be given as the first argument to the two new functions.

2014-09-25Do not test appup of core apps for upgrade from current vsnSiri Hansen
The appup tests for kernel, stdlib and sasl tests that the appup file allows upgrade from the previous and current major release to the current release. If, in the current release, the application version was not changed compared to the previous release, then we would still test that the appup supported the upgrade (i.e. from current release to current release). This is now changed, in order to avoid test failures on patch releases where kernel, stdlib and sasl are not changed.
2014-04-23Update kernel, stdlib and sasl appup testsSiri Hansen
Add test of update instructions from current major to current minor. Earlier only previous major to current was tested.
2014-02-21Use default timetrap (30 min) for kernel, stdlib and sasl app testsSiri Hansen
These tests start new nodes, and they frequently timed out on some slow test hosts.
2014-02-12Update appups and appup tests for kernel, stdlib and saslSiri Hansen
Appups now only support one major release back, and the tests are updated accordingly. Support is also added in tests for giving previous releases in a ct config file, e.g. {otp_releases,[{r15,"/path/to/r15/bin/erl"}, {r16,"/path/to/r16/bin/erl"}, {'17',"/path/to/17/bin/erl"}]}.
2014-01-28Update stdlib appup test to work for OTP release 17Siri Hansen
2011-11-17Add restart_new_emulator instruction to kernel, stdlib and sasl appupsSiri Hansen
The appup files for kernel, stdlib and sasl did not contain any UpFromVsn and DownToVsn. This means that it was not possible to create a relup file with systool:make_relup if any of these applications had changed. This commit adds entries in the appup files for a maximum of two major releases back - all with only one upgrade instruction: restart_new_emulator. The point is to allow relups to be generated, but ensure that no soft upgrade is done for these three applications - i.e. they will always cause a restart of the emulator prior to all other upgrade instructions from other applications. Test cases (appup_test) are added to kernel_SUITE, stdlib_SUITE and sasl_SUITE. These all check that expected versions are matched in the appups, and illegal versions (older than two major releases, or in any other way illegal) do not match. The test is written in a general way where it is assumed that the version of these applications are stepped according the the rule that major releases step the second number, maintenance releases step the third number and patches step the fourth number.
