Replace the 'erlang:binary_to_term/1' and 'erlang:binary_to_term/2'
Erlang wrappers taking care of failure after yield with management
of this in the hidden yield BIF.

Most dependencies introduced are exactly the dependencies to other
applications found by xref. That is, there might be real dependencies
missing. There might also be pure debug dependencies listed that
probably should be removed. Each application has to be manually
inspected in order to ensure that all real dependencies are listed.
All dependencies introduced are to application versions used in
OTP 17.0. This since the previously used version scheme wasn't
designed for this, and in order to minimize the work of introducing
the dependencies.

Ensure all are "normal" versions according to the new version scheme
introduced in OTP 17.0

The reconnect/1 test starts another node and takes down the connection
to it for a while. However, it has been in observed in our daily builds
that sometimes a "spontaneous" re-connection occurs.
I think that it because of the call to rpc:cast/3 which internally
will set the group leader for the remote process to a process on
the test_server node. It seems that sometimes the group_leader/2
call will re-establish the connection. Unfortunately, I have not
been able to force this to happen by inserting delays in the rpc
module, so it it still just an hypothesis.
However, letting the other node do the disconnection does seem to fix
the problem and intuitively that should be safer way to do it because
the group_leader/2 call and the disconnection will be executed
sequentially on the same node instead of concurrently from two
different nodes.

Use word boundaries in some regex matching to avoid recognizing words that
begin with keywords as keywords themselves, for example avoid recognizing a
function named catcher as the catch keyword. Add a regression test for this
problem.

This port has support for both non-smp and smp.
It contains a new way to do io checking in which erts_poll_wait
receives the payload of the polled entity. This has implications
for all linked-in drivers.

The types array(), dict(), digraph(), gb_set(), gb_tree(), queue(),
set(), and tid() have been deprecated. They will be removed in OTP 18.0.
Instead the types array:array(), dict:dict(), digraph:graph(),
gb_set:set(), gb_tree:tree(), queue:queue(), sets:set(), and ets:tid()
can be used. (Note: it has always been necessary to use ets:tid().)
It is allowed in OTP 17.0 to locally re-define the types array(), dict(),
and so on.
New types array:array/1, dict:dict/2, gb_sets:set/1, gb_trees:tree/2,
queue:queue/1, and sets:set/1 have been added.

With --enable-native-libs, skip eprof_SUITE:basic_option/1
Speed up bs_construct_SUITE:dynamic/1

eprof does not work on native-compiled code. Since

the test case will fail if --enable-native-libs is used.

tools: Update emacs mode with map highlights
|
|
As discussed in issue #240 *all* OTP library applications use the '.*'
wildcard as up and down version. This makes library applications
always up- and downgradeable. Using the wildcard version obsoletes
all maintenance tasks regarding library applications' appup files.
Additionally, it prevents upgrade problems caused by automatically
included application dependencies when using reltool to create
releases. Missing copyright headers are now consistently present.

The raw_abstract_v1 format that is currently used was introduced
in R9C. Beam files that old cannot be executed by the current
run-time system, so there is no need to continue the old formats.
Removing the support will increase coverage.
|
|
We used to skip the entire test suite if the cover server had already
been started by common_test, but that means that we will get bad
coverage for the cover module.
Modify the test suite to to run all tests case that don't explicitly
start or stop the cover server to increase the coverage. In addition,
add a special coverage_analysis/1 test case that only runs when
the cover server is already running.
|
|
We want to see at least some coverage of cover itself.

When inserting skeletons in emacs, some Erlang language elements such as
case, receive, and if statements, are not indented properly. This patch,
written by Leo Liu, corrects the indentation problems.
|
|
Fix an indentation error being returned by scan-sexp, and add a new
indentation test case for the error.

In erlang.el, add a line to evaluate the cl package at compile time so that
the use of the block macro (such as on line 3750), which is an alias for
cl-block, is evaluated correctly when erlang.el is compiled. Also modify
comparisons against (point) in functions erlang-electric-lt and
erlang-after-bitsyntax-close so that typing the characters '<' and '>'
(without the quotes) at the beginning of a buffer does not cause errors.
Thanks to user leo2007 in the #erlang channel on IRC for reporting these
problems and providing fixes.

In the emacs erlang-mode the function erlang-get-function-arity failed to
return a correct arity value for functions with literal binaries as
parameters, for example:
function(<<Bin:20/binary>>) -> Bin.
Fix erlang-get-function-arity to recognize binary parameters correctly.

Change emacs erlang-mode to recognize EEP37 named funs so they're indented
properly. Specifically, modify erlang-partial-parse to allow for an
optional Erlang variable name to appear between the "fun" keyword and the
opening parenthesis of its argument list.

This adds optional names to fun expressions. A named fun expression
is parsed as a tuple `{named_fun,Loc,Name,Clauses}` in erl_parse.
If a fun expression has a name, it must be present and be the same in
every of its clauses. The function name shadows the environment of the
expression shadowing the environment and it is shadowed by the
environment of the clauses' arguments. An unused function name triggers
a warning unless it is prefixed by _, just as every variable.
Variable _ is allowed as a function name.
It is not an error to put a named function in a record field default
value.
When transforming to Core Erlang, the named fun Fun is changed into
the following expression:
letrec 'Fun'/Arity =
fun (Args) ->
let <Fun> = 'Fun'/Arity
in Case
in 'Fun'/Arity
where Args is the list of arguments of 'Fun'/Arity and Case the
Core Erlang expression corresponding to the clauses of Fun.
This transformation allows us to entirely skip any k_var to k_local
transformation in the fun's clauses bodies.
